At BuildMelon, we believe your data belongs to you. This policy clearly explains how SideWiki handles your information.
We collect zero personal data.
We do not track your browsing history.
We do not log your searches.
We do not collect your IP address or personal details.
SideWiki runs locally in your browser. It simply takes the text you select and displays the corresponding Wikipedia article in a sidebar. We never see what you search for.
SideWiki requires specific permissions to function. Here is exactly why:
contextMenus: Required to add the “Search SideWiki for…” option to your right-click menu.
scripting & activeTab: Used to inject the sidebar into your current page when you perform a search.
Host Permissions (<all_urls> or specific sites): Required so the sidebar can appear on any website where you might want to look something up.
SideWiki uses one third-party service to show you content:
Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation): When you search for a term, the extension fetches the article directly from Wikipedia’s public servers. This interaction is subject to the Wikimedia Privacy Policy.
