At AudioMatch, we care about privacy by design. This Privacy Policy explains how AudioMatch – YouTube Audio Selector (“the extension”) handles information when you use it.
AudioMatch does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data to AudioMatch or to any AudioMatch-operated servers.
No accounts: AudioMatch does not require sign-up or login.
No analytics / tracking: AudioMatch does not include analytics SDKs or tracking pixels.
No AudioMatch servers: AudioMatch does not operate backend servers that receive your browsing activity, YouTube watch history, or audio preferences.
To provide features and remember your preferences, AudioMatch stores certain data locally using your browser’s extension storage (such as chrome.storage.local):
Your settings (for example: Preferred Languages enabled/disabled, Original Audio Only enabled/disabled)
Your preferred language list (the languages you select and their order)
Temporary internal state needed for the extension to function reliably
This data stays inside your browser’s extension storage and is not sent to AudioMatch.
AudioMatch works by applying the settings you choose on YouTube pages:
When a YouTube video provides multiple audio tracks, AudioMatch attempts to select the track that best matches your Preferred Languages list.
If Original Audio Only is enabled, AudioMatch attempts to keep the video’s original/default audio track.
AudioMatch does not send your selected languages or any YouTube content to external servers.
AudioMatch may read limited information from YouTube’s video player data that is necessary to choose an audio track, such as:
Available audio track metadata (for example: track identifiers and labels)
The current video identifier (to apply the correct preference behavior)
Important notes:
AudioMatch does not record your browsing history or watch history.
AudioMatch does not transmit video data or audio-track selections to AudioMatch servers (we do not run servers for this).
AudioMatch requests only the permissions needed to provide its features:
storage
Used to save your settings and preferred language list locally in the browser.
AudioMatch does not request permissions for reading all websites, tracking you, or collecting analytics.
Some browser pages and sites restrict extensions from running scripts or modifying behavior. In those cases, AudioMatch may be limited or may not function.
This is a browser/platform restriction, not data collection.
AudioMatch does not include third-party analytics or tracking services.
AudioMatch runs on YouTube pages to apply your audio preferences. Your use of YouTube is governed by Google/YouTube’s policies and terms.
We may update this Privacy Policy if the extension changes. Updates will be posted with a new effective date.
