We collect zero personal data.
We do not track your browsing history.
We do not collect your YouTube viewing habits.
We do not see your passwords, emails, or Google account details.
NeatYT runs entirely locally on your device. It works by modifying the CSS (styling) of the YouTube page you are currently viewing to hide the elements you select.
NeatYT requires specific permissions from your browser to function. Here is exactly why we need them:
storage: Used solely to save your personal preferences (e.g., “Hide Shorts: ON”, “Dislike Count: ON”) locally on your computer so they are remembered next time you visit YouTube.
activeTab: Allows the extension to apply your chosen settings to the YouTube tab you are currently viewing.
Host Permission for youtube.com: Required to inject the necessary CSS and scripts to clean up the YouTube interface and restore the dislike count.
NeatYT uses a single third-party service to restore the YouTube Dislike Count:
Return YouTube Dislike API: When you view a video, NeatYT sends the anonymous video ID to this public API to fetch the estimated dislike count. No personally identifiable information is sent with this request.
If we ever change how NeatYT handles data, we will update this policy immediately and display the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.
