Privacy Policy for QuickLens

At BuildMelon, we believe your data belongs to you. This policy clearly explains how QuickLens handles your information.

1. What Data We Collect

We collect zero personal data.

  • We do not track your searches.

  • We do not see the images you capture or the text you select.

  • We do not collect your browsing history.

QuickLens runs entirely locally on your device. When you capture a screenshot for searching, that image is processed temporarily in your browser’s memory and sent directly to Google Lens. We never see it, store it, or upload it to our own servers.

2. Permissions We Need & Why

QuickLens requires specific permissions to work. Here is exactly why:

  • activeTab: Allows the extension to capture the visible area of your current tab when you activate the “Search Area” or “Search Full Screen” features.

  • contextMenus: Required to add the “Search with Google Lens” option when you right-click an image on a webpage.

  • scripting: Used to inject the selection tool into the page so you can draw a box around what you want to search.

  • Host Permissions (<all_urls> or specific sites): Required so QuickLens can work on any website you visit. It only activates when you specifically choose to perform a search.

3. Third-Party Services

QuickLens uses one third-party service to perform its core function:

  • Google Lens: When you perform a search, the captured image or URL is sent directly from your browser to Google for analysis. This interaction is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.
