1. Introduction

Welcome to Screen Search (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our Chrome extension.

2. Information We Don’t Collect

We want to be clear about what we don’t collect:

  • We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information
  • We do not track your browsing history
  • We do not collect any data about the content of your searches
  • We do not use cookies or any other tracking technologies

3. Data Handling

  • Screenshots & Selections: When you use Screen Search to capture part or all of your screen, this processing happens locally on your device. The captured content is only sent to Google Lens for processing and is not stored by us.

  • Google Lens Integration: Your searches are processed by Google Lens, and their privacy policy applies to how they handle this data. We recommend reviewing Google’s privacy policy for more information.

4. Data Storage

  • Local Storage: We use Chrome’s local storage to save your extension preferences (like enabled/disabled features). This information never leaves your device.
  • Sync Storage: If you have Chrome Sync enabled, your preferences may be synced across your devices through your Google account.

5. Permissions

Screen Search requires the following permissions:

  • activeTab: To capture the visible tab’s content
  • contextMenus: To add “Search with Google Lens” to right-click menus
  • scripting: To inject necessary scripts for screen capture
  • storage: To save your extension preferences
  • webNavigation & tabs: For proper functionality across different websites

6. Third-Party Services

Screen Search integrates with Google Lens for visual search capabilities. Your use of Google Lens is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Last Updated” date.

BuildMelon makes useful digital stuff. We design websites, build custom tools, and create visuals that stand out.

Some of it’s for clients, some of it’s our own. Either way, it’s made with care and built to fit.
