SideWiki – Sidebar for Wikipedia

What We Store
• Your chosen Wikipedia language code (e.g., “en”) is saved locally in Chrome storage.
• If you right-click text to search, the selected text (max 250 characters) is kept for a few seconds while the panel opens.
• A temporary list of Wikipedia URLs you’ve opened is held in memory for the back-button; it disappears when you close the panel.

What We Never Store or Send
• No personal data, passwords, or non-Wikipedia browsing history.
• Nothing is sent to our servers—there are none.
• No analytics, ads, or trackers.

Permissions and Why
• sidePanel – display the sidebar.
• declarativeNetRequest – force Wikipedia dark-mode parameter.
• storage – keep your language setting.
• contextMenus – add the “Search in SideWiki” right-click item.
• notifications – alert you if selected text is too long.

Network Traffic
• The extension only talks to

*.wikipedia.org

.
• Feedback link is open Google Forms

Your Control
• Change or clear your language in the Options page.
• Remove the extension any time to delete all data.

BuildMelon makes useful digital stuff. We design websites, build custom tools, and create visuals that stand out.

Some of it’s for clients, some of it’s our own. Either way, it’s made with care and built to fit.
